Life Of The Jetsetter!

Whilst catching up with one of my favourite shows latest series, Run's House, I came across this AMAZING blog. I heard Rev Run's son Diggy talking about it on the series and I thought I would check it out! It was definitely worth checking it out, it's all about fashion, music and random thoughts!

I now follow this blog and I'm very glad I do not just because I am a massive Run DMC fan and it's Rev Run's son but because I think it is very useful to see other peoples opinions and inspirations.

Diggy is unbelivably talented, he is only 15 and is already working on his own fashion lined with mentor Pharell Williams. I wish him the best of luck although he is born into a very talented family!
Jojo (The older brother) is part of rap band Team Blackout and works for GlobalGrind, http://globalgrind.com/, it is everything hip hop from fashion to music.
Sisters Vanessa and Angela have their own company Pastry which does cute trainers and clothing sold in Macy's and Footlocker!

Toile Review!

I was really panicking about my toile review for some reason today however as soon as I got into the room I felt more confident as I love my design...

And it seems the tutors loved it too, this was a HUGE relief! All I need to do is make a few adjustments to my patterns like extend my leggings and dress and possibly shortening the sleeves on my dress!

I've been given the opportunity to maybe make another one of my outfits from my capsule collection as pattern cutting is what I really enjoy doing and if I have time I think I will do that because it is more practise of my skills.

Oh and a massive thanks to my model KAYLEIGH DEAN! Absolute star!!

Below are some images of my finished toile;

This is my jacket, only have a couple of changes for this which are just to make the hem on the hood a bit bigger; extend a bit of the front of the jacket down to the rib and the final piece will have poppers on it as the fastening method.

This is the back of my dress and leggings both of which I have to extend.

Buying & Merchandising!

Wow! I struggled with this assignment; but neither the less I handed it in today and I know I have done the best I could so fingers crossed =]

I found this unit so interesting and insightful as it is a part of the industry that I knew very little about, however I'm very glad I brought John's book as most of the information went over my head!

For my assignment I looked into JD Sports as I love sportswear so it is a huge passion of mine which meant I was able to stay focused on the task in hand.

Talented...

My friend Max has showed me another amazing, he has a habit of showing me people who completely blow me away with talent and I just had to share it on here. The name is Misery, She is a graffiti artist who is from Queensland, Australia and she is just amazing.
She has her own boutique where the mannequins actually look like the characters she draws which I think is pretty cool because they are usually plain and simple, you can see her mannequins on the top right image
=] I highly suggest you look at her work though as they are very inspirational... They have such character, femininity and beauty. I really like how she thinks about every little detail.

Even her website is amazing to look at;

Customer Profile!

I have chosen to do my customer profile board again on Illustrator as I think it makes everything seem smooth and clear so here is the finished image;
Hopefully my customer is just clear to everyone
else as she is to me.
I am pleased with how it has turned out so now just to print it out =/

Sun, Sea and Sand!

Weather like this makes everything seem good.

Toile

Soo since last Thursday we have been pattern cutting for our chosen outfit; mine is a dress, leggings and a Baseball style jacket (will upload a picture at a later point) I finished my patterns on Monday so today I went in at half 2 till half 5 and managed to make up my dress and my leggings (apart from the elastic waistband) so I am well and truly happy because it means tomorrow I can concentrate on doing my jacket!!

Here are some pictures of my dress;
This is the front view, I love how it has turned out and hopefully the tutors will love it when it comes to our toile reviews, fingers crossed =]

It's got pocket at the front, like the kangaroo pockets usually found on hoodies.

The top of the dress will be another colour and will have a print on it. I want it to look like someone has tucked in a t shirt into their skirt.

I am quite pleased with the fit and I am really looking forward to seeing how the final outfit looks put together.
