Illustration Work!
Today I've been doing my working drawings on Illustrator for my manifesto project and I think they have turned out well...
I'm trying to use Illustrator as much as I can because it is a good skill to practice and have in general.

Sportswear Is My Religion!
For my Mainfesto project I looked at sportwear and the urban culture as that is a huge passion of mine - I just love everything about it, the fashion, the brands, the music, the art, the history etc
Eco Sportswear?

They have produced a t shirt that was made out of a single piece of fabric so it reduces waste which I think is such a clever idea especially if you can get rid of unnecessary seams.
Deadlines Looming =/
So it's finally time for this Blogging brief to come to an end tomorrow and I haven't minded this project although I do think like I have forgotten something important or I haven't done enough blogs.
I have really found it hard to keep reminding myself about this blog but when I do I find it really useful because it's a good place to note and share inspirations and thoughts with everyone.
In an ideal world I would like to keep up with this blog after the project is finished because blogging is a huge part of the fashion industry now so it would be good to keep up with other blogs and keep uploading my own thoughts etc.

CV Time!
Apparently we need to include a copy of our CV for this Blogging project so here is an updated one that I have used in the past to help me find work... I can't figure out how to upload a document so I have copied and pasted it for now and I'll try figure it out

I am a very hard working person who has a good attitude so that helps me get on with whatever task I am set. I am a team player and get along well with other people. It has always been a big ambition of mine to work within the fashion world as it has always interested me. I believe that I am a quick learner and can adapt well to different scenarios.

As I am into fashion I like to draw a lot and I draw inspiration from music, television and my surroundings. I like watching television programmes that usually relate in some way to the fashion industry. I sometimes go out for a jog if not then I like to get on with my projects. When I’m back at home I like to walk my dog and catch up with family and friends.

I have learnt a lot of new skills since working at Jonathan James like doing stock refills, stock merchandising and also how to do a stock take. My main roles at Jonathan James was ensuring that the shelves were always filled, the shop was tidy, using the tills and making sure that if the customer needed another size shoe I was always willing to go and see if we have that size or style.

Lacking Self Motivating And Confidence
I'm trying to crack on with my sketchbook but after a recent trip to my old college to catch up with my tutor and chat to all the students about their work and university life I'm really doubting myself and my ability - Looking at their work the standards are amazingly high and what I would consider uni standards and looking at my own work I feel like I have progressed since college and I'm doing work by myself to conquer that by reading illustration books and drawing but I feel like nothing is showing/working and I'm stuck!!
Rant over but in all seriousness time is going so quickly...First year is almost over.

Life Of The Jetsetter!

Whilst catching up with one of my favourite shows latest series, Run's House, I came across this AMAZING blog. I heard Rev Run's son Diggy talking about it on the series and I thought I would check it out! It was definitely worth checking it out, it's all about fashion, music and random thoughts!
I now follow this blog and I'm very glad I do not just because I am a
massive Run DMC fan and it's Rev Run's son but because I think it is very useful to see other peoples opinions and inspirations.
http://digslifeofthejetsetter.blogspot.com/
Diggy is unbelivably talented, he is only 15 and is already working on his own fashion lined with mentor Pharell Williams. I wish him the best of luck although he is born into a very talented family!
Jojo (The older brother) is part of rap band Team Blackout and works for GlobalGrind, http://globalgrind.com/, it is everything hip hop from fashion to music.
Sisters Vanessa and Angela have their own company Pastry which does cute trainers and clothing sold in Macy's and Footlocker!

Toile Review!
I was really panicking about my toile review for some reason today however as soon as I got into the room I felt more confident as I love my design...
And it seems the tutors loved it too, this was a HUGE relief! All I need to do is make a few adjustments to my patterns like extend my leggings and dress and possibly shortening the sleeves on my dress!
I've been given the opportunity to maybe make another one of my outfits from my capsule collection as pattern cutting is what I really enjoy doing and if I have time I think I will do that because it is more practise of my skills.
Oh and a massive thanks to my model KAYLEIGH DEAN! Absolute star!!
Below are some images of my finished toile;

This is my jacket, only have a couple of changes for this which are just to make the hem on the hood a bit bigger; extend a bit of the front of the jacket down to the rib and the final piece will have poppers on it as the fastening method.

This is the back of my dress and leggings both of which I have to extend.

Buying & Merchandising!
Wow! I struggled with this assignment; but neither the less I handed it in today and I know I have done the best I could so fingers crossed =]
I found this unit so interesting and insightful as it is a part of the industry that I knew very little about, however I'm very glad I brought John's book as most of the information went over my head!
For my assignment I looked into JD Sports as I love sportswear so it is a huge passion of mine which meant I was able to stay focused on the task in hand.

Talented...

She has her own boutique where the mannequins actually look like the characters she draws which I think is pretty cool because they are usually plain and simple, you can see her mannequins on the top right image
=] I highly suggest you look at her work though as they are very inspirational... They have such character, femininity and beauty. I really like how she thinks about every little detail.
Even her website is amazing to look at;

Toile
Soo since last Thursday we have been pattern cutting for our chosen outfit; mine is a dress, leggings and a Baseball style jacket (will upload a picture at a later point) I finished my patterns on Monday so today I went in at half 2 till half 5 and managed to make up my dress and my leggings (apart from the elastic waistband) so I am well and truly happy because it means tomorrow I can concentrate on doing my jacket!!
Here are some pictures of my dress;
This is the front view, I love how it has turned out and hopefully the tutors will love it when it comes to our toile reviews, fingers crossed =]
It's got pocket at the front, like the kangaroo pockets usually found on hoodies.
The top of the dress will be another colour and will have a print on it. I want it to look like someone has tucked in a t shirt into their skirt.

I am quite pleased with the fit and I am really looking forward to seeing how the final outfit looks put together.

Inspiration =]
So I am working hard on my Manifesto project and re-doing my mood board on Photoshop instead of on paper as I prefer the results.. I think I am done with it but I'm not a hundred per cent happy with it so I asked my friends Max, Kayleigh and Tara their opinion on it.. Max said that it looked "sick" and Kayleigh liked it however Tara said it may be too busy so I am not so sure of what to think, I know I should stick to my instinct but I believe it is good to get your peers opinions as they are not working on the project so they aren't invested in it.
Here it is, whether or not it changes that depends...
Whilst doing this, Max told me about a graffiti artist called Cope2 who has done work for Adidas and Converse amongst others; his work blew me away so very glad I was told about him. So if you ever read this Max, Thank you very much =]

Rob Ryan!

I just love his work, It is so romantic and delicate. They are paper cuts and he also uses them for screen prints, I think he is so talented.

Motivation!

Yesterday I was flicking through my portfolio which has work in it from my ND Fashion college course and it has really motivated me to crack on with uni work and produce something I am proud of because no matter what I was going through during my time at college at the end of the day I still worked hard and produced work that I am proud of and I am ashamed to say that as it stands at the minute I am not that proud of my uni work =/
So with saying that it is time to crack on with my Manifesto project which I think if I put in the work it is definitely something I can be proud of....

Lectra!

So we have been doing a unit about Lectra and jersey since Christmas and I must say I have absolutely loved it and I will actually miss having those lessons so I definately want to carry on expanding my skills.
It is our deadline tomorrow at 4 but I am ready for it so I am glad of that, I hope that I do well at this unit.
I have loved working with jersey because I have worked with it in the past so I have found it easy, but I've learnt it's always good to refresh your skills and knowledge.

Hello, My Name Is Hannah Berry And I Have A Problem With Lack Of Blogging...
It's been a while since I've done this so I feel like just starting all over again with it so I can get back on track and make everything look good but I suppose that defies the whole point as I will have tons of blogs all on one date?!
So here's a little catch up with all my thoughts over the past almost 4 months I have forgotten to blog;
I had real trouble with this course at first to the point that I wanted to transfer as I couldn't even stand going in for half a day let alone a whole day, I was so frustrated and I couldn't see the point in it all but at last I have found the light and things are looking up! Hurrah!
We got marks back for our first two projects and both of which I am disappointed with, especially Pattern Cutting, I got 59 for both units which is a pass but I knew I could do a lot better but I think I had resigned myself to the fact I was going to transfer so what was the point, and I know it shouldn't have affected me like that but it did and I am extremely annoyed at myself.
